Bethany Hamilton is an accomplished surfer and is well respected
in the surfing world. At the age of 11 Bethany began competing and still does to this day.
Her dreams of becoming a proffesional surfer were shattered on October
31, 2003. Bethany had been attacked by a 14 foot shark while surfing with friends at home on the North Shore's of Kauai. Unfortunatly
Bethany lost her left arm from this attack but it surely did not stop Bethany from surfing.This made her relationship with
Christ a lot stronger! Her inspirational story and recovery has touched the hearts of people all around the world.
Ever since Bethany lost her arm she has been feautured all over the
media including commercials, magazines, newspapers, talk shows and more. She also has her own book out now which you can get
at a bookstore near you called SOUL SURFER. Bethany really got recognized when she won the 2004 ESPY Award for Best Comeback
Athlete and in August she was presented with a special Courage Award by Janet Jackson at the 2004 Teen Choice Awards!! YOU
GO GIRL!
Bethany continues to surf and fulfill her dream while spreading the
good news on Christ.
